Hit-and-run crash: State police are looking for a driver, possibly an elderly person, who struck Paul Dick of Parker as he was riding his motorcycle on Amity Ridge Road near South Main Street, Amwell, just before 9 a.m. Thursday. The blue minivan that caused the crash would have light damage to the rear driver’s side. Police said it is possible the driver did not even know contact was made with the motorcycle. There was no indication if the rider was injured. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 724-223-5200.
Building hit: Ann Smoke, 88, of Surrey Drive, Canonsburg, was treated at the scene Thursday after her vehicle hit a parked car and the building housing Bahr Hardware, 136 N. Central Ave., Canonsburg police said. Smoke told police that she turned into the parking lot and when she hit her brakes, they would not work. She was checked at the scene by ambulance personnel.
Copper stolen: Michael Herron told Chartiers police Wednesday that copper, electrical wire and two breaker boxes were stolen from a house at 133 Fourth St.
Man jailed: Cody Lee Rock, 24, of 644 Fifth St., Donora, is charged by borough police with receiving stolen property, accused of possessing a stolen bicycle valued at $50 about 10:20 p.m. May 25, court records show. He is in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond set Thursday by District Judge Mark Wilson.
Marijuana, paraphernalia charges: Jacob Matthew Tigner, 20, of Oakdale, was charged Friday by McDonald police with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and traffic violations stemming from a May 30 traffic stop on South McDonald Street, McDonald. Suspected marijuana was found in the console of his vehicle.
Mailbox burned: State police are looking for information about who may have placed lighted fireworks inside a mailbox at 76 Pigeon Creek Road, Somerset, between 9:30 p.m. and midnight Thursday. The fireworks went off and the mailbox caught fire. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 724-223-5200.
Two charged: Jessica Ann Brown, 30, of 341 Grove Ave., Washington, and Jessica Fluharty, 40, of Buena Vista Street, Canton Township, will be charged by South Strabane police with retail theft for allegedly going into dressing rooms at Kohl’s, Strabane Square, Thursday, with clothing that they placed in their purses. The two then tried to leave the store. Police said Brown had clothing valued at $162 while Fluharty had clothing valued at $216. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Window broken: David Smith, 2031 E. Maiden St., told South Strabane police Thursday that a window was broken at his home by a vandal. A man with a hammer was seen in the area.
Teen charged: A 16-year-old Jollick Manor boy was charged by Washington police with disorderly conduct after he allegedly pointed an airsoft gun at passing motorists about 12:45 p.m. Thursday. When police arrived, they saw him walking with the weapon, ordered him at gunpoint to drop it and kneel on the ground with his hands behind his back. The teen complied and the weapon was confiscated. His mother also was notified of the charges.
DUI crash: Joseph Risbin, 37, of 740 Maple Ave., Washington, will be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after crashing his vehicle into a utility pole in the 300 block of East Prospect Avenue about 10 p.m. Thursday. When police arrived, they found his vehicle in the lot at the Independent Club and Risbin inside the club. He admitted to hitting the pole when he was leaving the club’s parking lot. His blood-alcohol level was almost three times the 0.08 limit presumed for intoxication. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Information used: Robert Thumm of Burton Avenue told Washington police Thursday his debit card information was used to make a $194 purchase at a TJ Maxx in Pittsburgh. He told police he still has the card in his possession.
