Burgettstown H.S. to graduate 98
Burgettstown High School will graduate 98 seniors at its commencement ceremony at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Samantha Kraeer is the valedictorian. She is a daughter of David and Tammy Kraeer.
Kraeer was awarded the Rotary Club of Washington’s Academic Scholarship, Burgettstown Lions Scholarship, Burgettstown High School’s Science Award, Burgettstown High School’s Excellence in Psychology award and the President’s Gold Award for Educational Excellence. She was a member of the Physics Club and the cheerleading squad.
Kraeer will attend Florida State University to pursue a degree in psychology.
Robert Derosky is salutatorian. He is a son of Stanley Jr. and Cathy Derosky.
Derosky was awarded the Michelle Pappas Scholarship, Megan J. Phillis Scholarship Fund, Henry Hellmer’s Family Scholarship, Walter Michael Budash Memorial Scholarship and the William Harold Malone Memorial Scholarship. He was also honored as one of 2015’s Leaders of Tomorrow sponsored by Congressman Tim Murphy, the President’s Gold Award for Educational Excellence and was the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1801 Teen of the Month. Derosky was a member of the National Honor Society, Washington County Peer Jury and the Arctic Foxes amateur ice hockey team. He volunteered at the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon.
Derosky will attend Pennsylvania State University to major in chemical engineering.
