Assault charge: Brennan Bresselsmith, 38, of 528 Springdale Drive, Eighty Four, was charged Monday by Canonsburg police with simple assault and harassment for allegedly hitting Rebekah Layburn in the face and throwing a chair at her during a May 28 confrontation at 329 W. College St. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
False ID, drunkenness charges: Nathan D. Carmichael, 25, of Coraopolis, was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge David Mark on charges of false identification and public drunkenness stemming from a July 8, 2013, incident on East Pike Street. He was found lying in the grass between two buildings, half asleep with a case of beer. He gave police another person’s name. Police later learned his correct identity. He was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Resisting, escape charges: Maceo A. Saunders, 20, of 1651 Weirich Ave., Canton, was charged Monday by state police with resisting arrest and escape after he fled from troopers trying to take him into custody on a bench warrant. He was apprehended and placed in Washington County jail on a probation violation. He will be arraigned via video on the new charges before District Judge David Mark.
Account accessed: Dawn Dillare, 495 Ewing St., Meadow Lands, told Chartiers police Friday her credit card was accessed and $563 was withdrawn at an automated teller machine in Florida June 1.
Two arrested: Brandi Marie Johnson, 23, and Michelle Marie Perri-Bailey, 49, both of 38 Snyder Lane, Hanover, were arrested Tuesday morning by state police on charges of simple assault and harassment. The mother and daughter are accused of assaulting each other during a confrontation at their home. They were arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger and released on $5,000 unsecured bond.
Driver injured: Mary Hartzog, 60, of 193 Marra Ave., Washington, was injured Tuesday morning when her vehicle went off McElree Road near McGowan Lane, hit an embankment and rolled onto its roof. North Franklin police said she was driving north at a speed in excess of the 25 mph speed limit. Hartzog was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment.
Cellphone stolen: Janet McFall, 114 Hamilton St., told North Franklin police Friday her Samsung Galaxy cellphone was stolen from her residence.
Driver flees scene: State police said a man fled after crashing the Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck he was driving on northbound Interstate 79 near the Houston/Eighty Four exit, North Strabane, about 11:35 p.m. Monday. Police said traffic was stopped for a vehicle fire when the driver of the truck owned by Rockwater Energy was traveling at an unsafe speed. The truck went off the road, hit a guard rail and overturned.
Thefts from cars: Police said an unlocked car on Troutwood Drive in Venetia was broken into Saturday and $200 was taken. On Monday, a shoulder bag containing gift cards and cash was taken from an unlocked car on Fox Creek Road in Venetia.
Drug possesion: Andrew Sherill, 23, of Locust Circle, Canonsburg, was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop Sunday on Waterdam Road, township police said. Police said a strong odor of marijuana was detected, and Sherill admitted to having a small amount of marijuana and a glass pipe.
Two-vehicle accident: A Pittsburgh woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident Monday at Washington Road and Circle Drive in McMurray. Police said a vehicle driven by Heather L. Gaussa, 36, of High Sierra Circle, was on Circle Drive when it was struck by a vehicle driven by Michael Uriah, 59, of West Grant Street, Houston. Gaussa was taken to St. Clair Hospital for treatment of neck and arm pain.
Two injured: Thomas A. Dinch Jr., 18, and his passenger, Thomas A. Dinch Sr., 61, both of Scenery Hill, were injured when a car driven by Becky Rodgers, 38, of Eighty Four, pulled out in front of their sport utility vehicle as they drove on Route 519 in Somerset, about 6:50 p.m. Monday, state police said. The Dinch vehicle struck an embankment and rolled. The Dinches were taken to Washington Hospital for treatment.
Theft, false name: Olivia N. Miller, 22, of 288 Locust Ave., Washington, was charged Tuesday by Washington police with false identification and retail theft after she reportedly gave an officer another name when she was allegedly caught stealing nail polish from Family Dollar, 130 Highland Ave., March 19. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Charged in crash: James May, 24, of 670 ½ Jefferson Ave., Washington, was charged Tuesday by Washington police with leaving the scene of an accident, driving under suspension and not having insurance stemming from a hit-and-run crash May 26 in the 900 block of Jefferson Avenue. Police said he took the vehicle to a local scrap yard after the crash. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
