State Rep. Peter J. Daley, D-California, announced California University of Pennsylvania was approved for a $40,000 state grant for its multiyear “Reaching Each in Our Cal Community” program targeting underage and dangerous drinking throughout the region.
“The grant from the state Liquor Control Board will help the university continue its successful alcohol-education efforts,” Daley said. “The ‘Reaching Each’ program focuses on proven, evidence-based prevention strategies targeting students, adolescents and parents throughout the community.”
Daley said the grant, through the LCB’s Bureau of Alcohol Education, supports various advocacy and mentoring programs, including “Parents Who Host,” which emphasizes the risks of serving alcohol at teen parties, and “Buzzkill,” which educates college students on responsibilities while serving as hosts of social gatherings.
Statewide, the LCB approved 65 grant applications for funding totaling more than $2.2 million.
