Mon Valley women arrested in Carroll Township burglary
Store receipts dropped at the scene of an April burglary in Carroll Township provided police with the clues leading to the arrests of two Mon Valley women in the case.
The receipts from Walmart and its video surveillance allowed police to identify Marcella Shaffer, 44, of Charleroi, who knows the victim and turned herself in Tuesday for her arraignment in the case, police said.
Police Monday arrested Alexis V. Davis, 33, also of Charleroi, on more serious charges accusing her and a Monessen man of stealing two semi-automatic weapons and a flat-screen television April 14 from a residence on Donora Road, court records show.
Police said the receipts were found on the front steps of victim Thomas Bulko’s residence at 194 Donora Road after he reported his rifle and handgun stolen.
District Judge Mark Wilson issued a warrant to arrest Aaron Payne, 49, of Monessen on charges of burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, conspiracy, solicitation and carrying a firearm without a license. Davis faces identical charges and remains in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond set by Wilson, court records state.
Shaffer is charged with carrying a firearm without a license and disorderly conduct. She is in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond set by Wilson.
