TURTLE CREEK (AP) – A man was fatally shot in his Western Pennsylvania home where his five children were at the time.

Authorities say it happened around 3 p.m. Monday when two men visited 32-year-old Jerit Love’s Wilkins Township home. Allegheny County police say Love was shot by one of the men in his basement and was able to make it upstairs to tell his five children to call police. He collapsed and died in the front doorway.

None of the children, who ranged in age from 8 to 14, were injured.

Animal control had to corral several pit bulls on the property so police could investigate.

The suspects fled after the shooting.
