State police are investigating an assault in Canton Township that sent one person to the hospital with multiple injuries last week.

An argument erupted when a person riding a dirt bike nearly struck a juvenile on Griffith Avenue at about 8:20 p.m. June 11, according to police reports.

Police said the dispute turned physical when “illegal entry” was made into a residence on the 100 block of Charles Street. The occupants of the home used force to remove a person. The person turned to leave, but was knocked to the ground and struck and kicked multiple times. The victim was taken to Washington Hospital to be treated for numerous injuries.

The severity of the injuries and condition of the victim were not immediately known.

Police said they are not releasing names because it is an ongoing investigation. Names will be released if charges are filed.
