Child molestation suspect to stand trial
A Nemacolin man charged last month and accused of molesting three children last year will stand trial on all charges.
Shaun P. Harden was held for court during his preliminary hearing Monday afternoon before District Judge Lee Watson on three counts each of felony indecent aggravated assault of a child, indecent aggravated assault of a child under 13, corruption of minors and three misdemeanor charges each of indecent exposure and open lewdness.
Harden, 36, of 39 Wood Ave., was charged by Cumberland Township police May 11 and accused of molesting an 11-year-old girl and two boys, ages 11 and 12, from July through October at a township residence.
Cumberland Township police Detective Tony Gismondi said Harden tried to kiss the girl and then fondled her before exposing himself. On another date, police said Harden “got naked” and came into the room with the two boys and began a thrusting motion on them. They told him to stop, police said, but he refused.
The children were interviewed by investigators in November and they told police of the encounters, according to court documents. The boys said the incidents occurred on more than one occasion, police said. The girl originally told investigators Harden fondled her only once, but testified Monday it happened multiple times, Gismondi said.
Police were unable to interview Harden to discuss the allegations.
His defense attorney, Josh Camson, said Harden maintains his innocence.
“We’re obviously denying the allegations,” Camson said Tuesday.
Harden has been jailed since March when he was accused of fighting a man in a wheelchair and attempting to cut his throat.
He was charged in the sex assault case in May and remains jailed on $50,000 bond on those charges. His formal arraignment has not been scheduled.
