Brownlee Road at the intersection with Thomas Eighty Four Road in North Strabane Township will close for several weeks, starting July 6, for construction.

The closure will allow for the realignment of Route 1055, and will include excavation and paving. Roxanne Rossi, a transportation and construction manager with the state Department of Transportation, said the realignment will correct “a bad intersection that creates traffic issues.”

A posted detour will be in place, and will utilize Route 519 to Route 136 to Route 1055.

Allison Park Contracting will complete the work. The project is estimated at $5.12 million.

The realignment should be completed in the fall.
