Successfully navigating the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs can be a daunting task for veterans, especially those returning from war with mental or physical wounds.

This in part prompted the Observer-Reporter series, “Soldiering On.” As part of the series, we will have experts answering questions for veterans and their families to supplement our newspaper articles.

The first expert is the director of veterans affairs at California University of Pennsylvania, Robert Prah. He will answer questions during a Twitter chat from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday.

Those without access to Twitter can still participate. Send questions to achoiniere@observer-reporter.com by 5 p.m. Monday to have questions answered. A recap of the question-and-answer session will be in print and online July 7.

To participate in the Twitter chat, follow #VetsChat or go to www.twubs.com/VetsChat and click “Join Twub” on the bottom left.

Prah’s areas of expertise include veterans education benefits and community and service organizations for veterans. He can also provide resources and information on health care and disability compensation benefits and claims.

He has served with the Army National Guard for more than 14 years, and worked as the university’s veterans affairs director since 2007. Prah also works as a suicide intervention trainer. He serves with local and national veterans community organizations and advises the Cal U. veterans club and Sigma Tau Gamma.
