Chartiers Township man arrested in attempted rape

A Chartiers Township man was arrested by township police after he allegedly tried to rape and sexually assault a 56-year-old woman Tuesday afternoon.

David C. Steede, 56, of 111 Ivy Court, was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on charges of attempted rape, attempted sexual assault and attempted simple assault.

The alleged victim told police he tried to force her to have sexual intercourse with him.

When she declined, he reportedly became angry and tried to force apart her legs, leaving bruising.

Steede also allegedly on her arms. She told police that she was very scared during the ordeal.

Steede was placed in Washington County jail on $75,000 bond. A preliminary is set for March 11 before Mark.
