PHILADELPHIA – The latest winter storm prompted speed reductions on much of the Pennsylvania Turnpike and on many highways.

Turnpike officials said speed limits have been reduced to 45 mph from the Blue Mountain Interchange to the Delaware River bridge next to New Jersey and on the Northeast Extension.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said similar reductions to 45 mph have also been instituted on a number of highways.

Philadelphia International Airport officials said airlines have canceled more than 20 percent of the flights into and out of the airport and several hundred were delayed.

And forecasters already have their eyes on another storm expected to bring 6 to 8 inches of snow on southern areas of the commonwealth Wednesday night into Thursday with lesser amounts expected to the north.
