Washington and Greene counties remain under a winter weather advisory until 4 p.m. today as snow that began overnight will continue to fall until early afternoon. Residents awoke this morning to a significant amount of snow, and began digging out. Area schools canceled classes, and the morning commute was difficult.

Scattered power outages have been reported, with about 350 homes without power in Greeene County, and about 40 without power in California in Washington County.

Lee Hendricks, meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said that between 4 and 6 inches of snow had been reported throughout Washington and Greene counties so far.

Waynesburg reported almost 6 inches of snow, while McMurray reported 4.5 inches. In Greene County, another 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected throughout the day, while another 1 to 2 inches is expected to fall in Washington County, primarily this morning.
