WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg police filed charges against a Scenery Hill man who was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run crash after fleeing the scene of a domestic assault Feb. 1.
Justin Blake Potts, 27, of 192 Beatty Lane, is charged with terroristic threats, two counts of simple assault, two counts of harassment, accidents involving damage to unattended vehicles and failing to immediately give notice of an accident to police.
Police said they were dispatched to 505 Huffman St. in Waynesburg, and while en route, they received a call about a hit-and-run accident at 405 Fourth Ave.
Officer Bill Nichols searched for the car involved in the crash while Officer Nick Remmie proceeded to the Huffman Street call.
According to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday, Remmie spoke with Darian Richter, who identified herself as Potts’ girlfriend.
Richter told Remmie Potts attempted to break her leg. Richter said she was able to get free and run away. As she fled, Richter passed Brandi Sekelik, who was downstairs and heard the commotion, police said.
Sekelik told police she was on her way upstairs when Richter passed her.
She said she confronted Potts, who allegedly hit her in the face and scratched her arm.
Sekelik told officers Jamie Hoy, who holds the lease to the residence, pulled Potts off of her.
Hoy said he told Potts to leave but he returned a short time later, demanding the return of his e-cigarette.
Hoy told police he returned it to Potts, who then allegedly used it to make a burn mark on the front door before kicking Hoy in the leg and leaving.
Richter later told officers Potts was drinking heavily and left the residence in a white BMW.
While investigating the hit-and-run accident, police recovered several pieces of a white car that struck two parked vehicles.
One of the pieces found included a part number that identified it as belonging to a BMW.
A warrant was issued for Potts’ arrest.
