CAMERON, W.Va. (AP) – State officials are investigating a fatal accident at a coal mine in Marshall County.

Spokeswoman Leslie Smithson with the state Department of Commerce said Sunday night that preliminary reports indicate one miner was killed and two others were injured.

Tom Hart with the Marshall County Emergency Management Agency tells TV station WTRF all other workers have gotten out of the mine.

WTOV reports Murray Energy released a brief statement saying “an accident” had occurred at the company’s Marshall County Coal Company’s Marshall County Mine. The statement said details about the incident weren’t immediately clear.

The state Office of Miners’ Health, Safety and Training is investigating.
