The Greene County Memorial Hospital Foundation is again offering $2,000 scholarships to five students from Greene County.
Each year, the foundation awards a scholarship to one student from each of the five county school districts who intends to pursue a secondary degree in a health care field.
Applications are available in the high school guidance counseling offices.
Last year, the foundation awarded more than $30,000 in scholarships and tuition assistance awards to local students, as well as nearly $400,000 in grants to Greene County nonprofit organizations that are striving to improve the health and well-being of community residents.
Waynesburg University, Greene County Parks and Recreation, Children’s Bible Ministries, Catholic Charities, Corner Cupboard Foodbank and several local volunteer fire departments are just a few examples of entities that have received the awards.
The foundation holds two primary fundraising events each year. The first is the annual golf outing scheduled for July 17 at Rohanna’s in Waynesburg, and the second is the 26th annual Harvest Ball scheduled for Nov. 7 at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort.
Reservations are being accepted for both of these events.
