WAYNESBURG – As part of the celebration of National Poetry Month in April, the Eva K. Bowlby Public Library in Waynesburg is holding a poetry competition.

The library is inviting patrons and residents to participate by submitting original poems to the library during the month of March.

The competition will be divided into the following categories: kindergarten through second grade; third through fifth grade; sixth through eighth grade; ninth through 12th grade, and adults.

All entries must be submitted by April 1. First-place prizes will be awarded for the winner in each age category. Winners will be announced at 5:30 p.m. April 16 during a poetry reading and awards ceremony.

Winners and participants are invited to read their original work during that time; light refreshments will be served. For more information, call the library at 724-627-9776.
