State Rep. Brandon Neuman and his staff will assist area residents in recovering unclaimed money from state coffers.

Neuman, D-North Strabane Township, said his staffers will help guide residents through the process of reclaiming their property. Unclaimed property includes things such as closed bank accounts, uncashed checks, lost stocks and bonds, contents of safety deposit boxes and unexpired certificates and gift cards. Overall, the treasury is seeking the owners of $2.3 billion in unclaimed property, including $17.8 million originating in Washington County.

Neuman’s offices are in Suite 207 of The George Washington hotel, 60 S. Main St., Washington, and in Suite C at 1825 Washington Road, North Strabane Township. The phone numbers are 724-222-1091 and 724-743-7602, respectively.

Residents can search the unclaimed property database by visiting www.patreasury.gov or by calling 1-800-222-2046.
