A woman wanted in connection with the assault and robbery of her ex-boyfriend in which his tax return money was stolen from him inside her Bentleyville apartment last month was arrested Wednesday by state police.
Jennifer Barber, 33, was arrested and charged with two felony counts of robbery and one count each of simple assault and harassment after state police said she worked with two men to attack and rob Jamie Dicharo at her Bentleyville Apartments unit at 504 Old West Road Feb. 18.
Police said Dicharo just cashed his tax return check with Barber earlier that day and he gave her $400, while he used some of the other money to purchase various items. The two went to a laundromat together, but Barber left early without telling Dicharo.
When he came back to the apartment, two black men attacked him and demanded he give them his money. One of the men struck Dicharo in the face with a wine bottle and the punched him in the head, police said.
Dicharo eventually handed over a backpack full of an undisclosed amount of cash and ran from the apartment to contact authorities, police said. When police arrived at the apartment minutes later, Barber and the men were gone. Dicharo told police Barber was the only person who knew he just cashed his tax return check.
State police obtained an arrest warrant for Barber from District Judge Curtis Thompson last week.
Barber, who now lives at 179 Frogtown Road, Luzerne Township, was arraigned Wednesday afternoon by District Judge Robert Redlinger on the charges and released on a $5,000 percentage bond.
Police have not identified the two men who assaulted and robbed Dicharo. He described them as both being 6-feet-tall and one is thin with a dark complexion while the other is heavy set with short hair.
Anyone with information on the location of the two other men is asked to contact the Belle Vernon state police barracks at 724-929-6262.
