A letter was sent to parents in Upper St. Clair School District alerting them to an incident that occurred Wednesday morning near a school bus stop on Fieldgate Drive.

Upper St. Clair police Chief Douglas Burkholder said a child was walking toward the street when a baby sitter noticed a white van stopped with its four-way signals on. Burkholder said the baby sitter called the child back, and the van drove away.

“It wasn’t child luring,” Burkholder said. “The man never spoke to the child, looked at the child that we know of. It was not an attempted luring.”

However, Burkholder noted that the incident is still being investigated and police are checking the neighborhood.
