Preservation project planned for five Washington County bridges

The state Department of Transportation is undertaking a bridge preservation project involving five spans in Washington County. The bridges are on Route 231 in Donegal Township, Route 331 in Hopewell Township, Route 917 in Bentlevyille and two on McGirts Road in West Pike Run Township.
Allison Park Contractors is now working on the first bridge on Route 331 (Brush Road Road) near Poplar Road under a $1.26 million contract. The work includes repairs on the abutments, steel repairs, structure painting, scour protection, debris removal and slope restoration Crews will work from the underside of the bridges, which may require minor traffic restrictions as necessary.
