Assault: Harry Erwin Kassler, 33, of Summit Avenue, Canonsburg, was in Washington County jail on charges of simple assault and harassment. Borough police said they were called at about 9 p.m. Saturday by April Cange, who accused Kassler, her boyfriend, of striking her in the head and face and of being intoxicated. Police said she told them she went to a friend’s apartment. Kassler was still in the apartment they shared, but the lease was in Cange’s name. She gave them the key and permission to enter if Kassler did not answer. Kassler, police said, did not answer, and when they entered found him asleep in a lounge chair. He is held on $5,000 straight bond.
Simple assault: Stephan Wasler, 40, of North Main Street, Houston, was charged with simple assault/domestic violence following an alleged incident about 10 p.m. Saturday. Township police said they responded to a report of a domestic dispute at the North Main Street residence and Amanda Bedillion, 37, told them she argued over the phone with Wasler, her boyfriend. She told them when he arrived, the two argued again before he started to choke her before she broke away and fled to a neighbor’s house.
Criminal mischief: State police in Washington reported about 160 feet of steel fencing was damaged and eight wooden posts were knocked over on the Atlasburg Road property of Richard Lehman. They said the incident occurred between 3 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Multiple counts: Zachary Thomas Burris, 27, of West Main Street, Monongahela, was in Washington County jail on multiple charges following his arrest about 1:45 a.m. Sunday. Borough police reported that when an officer pulled behind Burris’ truck, flashed the lights and sounded the siren, the defendant took off and led the officer on a chase, driving as fast as 85 mph in a 45-mph zone. Police said Burris went into a ditch on Columbia Road, but after the officer pointed his service revolver at the defendant and ordered him out of the vehicle, Burris didn’t stop and backed his truck about 50 feet before getting stuck in the mud. Burris, according to police, started to run before he was apprehended. Charges include driving while operating privilege was suspended, fleeing, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment and driving under the influence. He is held on $25,000 straight bond.
Dispute: State police in Washington arrested James Gregory Michaux, 37, of Locust Street, Clarksville, following an alleged incident at 3 a.m. Saturday. According to police, Kimberly Ann Hamm and a friend drove up to the Locust Street residence and the accused got out of a car that was parked nearby. The victim, police said, told them Michaux opened her car door, started to punch her, pulled her into the street, and continued to assault her. Police said Hamm said she blacked out briefly before her friend drove her to Monongahela Valley Hospital for treatment of a broken arm and bruising and swelling of the head. She reported she later had surgery on the arm at a Pittsburgh hospital.
Burglary/theft: A safe and cash were stolen from the Eldersville Road residence of Jim Matthew Smith, according to state police in Washington, They said this happened between 7 p.m. March 4 and 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Disorderly conduct: Michael Shawn Oshetsky, 38, of Presock Road, Greensboro, was in Washington County jail following an alleged incident at The Meadows Casino. According to state police at The Meadows’ gaming office, Oshetsky yelled at casino security about 1 a.m. Saturday and threatened casino security supervisor Dan Komeroski. Police said Oshetsky then dared them to arrest him. He is charged with disorderly conduct and terroristic threats and was released on his own recognizance.
Simple assault: Jeanne Horne, 45, and Chales Seaman, 53, of 930 Fayette St., Washington, were in the Washington County jail on a simple assault charge following an alleged incident about 4 p.m. Saturday. City police reported Horne told them Seaman punched her in the face and hit her on a leg with a flashlight, and that Seaman said Horne hit him on the head with a frying pan holding hot grease. Seaman also is charged with possession of marijuana and use/possession of drug paraphernalia. Both are held on $10,000 straight bond.
