CARMICHAELS – Charges were filed Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Lee Watson against a Carmichaels woman for violating the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act.

Angela Marie Cox, 20, of 168 Kovalcheck Road, Carmichaels, was allegedly in possession of heroin when a federal arrest warrant was served at her residence in 2013 for Tyler Hoyle, 23, of Waynesburg. Hoyle was wanted for trafficking in heroin.

State police and drug enforcement agency officers received a tip that Hoyle was at Cox’s home April 17, 2013, and had made a purchase of several bricks of heroin that day. The warrant was served the following morning.

Cox answered the door when officers arrived and directed them to a rear bedroom where Hoyle was found hiding inside a closet. According to the criminal complaint, Cox gave permission for her residence to be searched and officers located heroin inside her purse.

Hoyle was taken into custody and later found guilty of conspiring with Amanda Allison, 26, of 512 Rock Lick Road, Cameron, W.Va., to distribute heroin from January to April 2013. He was sentenced to five years and 10 months in the federal prison system in West Virginia followed by three years of supervised probation. Agents seized $10,600 during the investigation of Hoyle and Allison from the proceeds of drug activity.

Allison, a former substitute teacher and high school girls’ basketball coach in West Virginia, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute heroin. She received two years and six months in prison.

A preliminary arraignment has not yet been scheduled in Cox’s case.
