Prince Charles and Camilla to visit U.S., meet Obama
WASHINGTON – Britain’s Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, are set to arrive in Washington and will visit cultural and educational sites over the next three days.
The British Embassy said the royal couple is scheduled to arrive Tuesday evening at Andrews Air Force Base. They’ll be greeted by the British ambassador to the United States and taken to a reception for embassy staff at the ambassador’s home.
The ambassador, Sir Peter Westmacott, said in a statement before their arrival the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwell will promote democratic values and environmental preservation and perform an “essential role” in keeping the trans-Atlantic relationship “special.”
Prince Charles last visited the United States in 2011. As he did then, he’s scheduled to meet this week with President Barack Obama.
