CORAOPOLIS, Pa. (AP) — Part-time professors have voted to unionize at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh.

The results of the vote announced Tuesday must still be certified by the National Labor Relations Board. But once that happens spokesman Jonathan Potts says the school in Moon Township will move forward with “good-faith bargaining.”

The adjunct professors at Robert Morris are the third group in Pittsburgh to organize under the United Steelworkers of America, joining Point Park and Duquesne universities, both in Pittsburgh.

Robert Morris used 226 part-time professors in the fall.

The union members say part-time faculty with a master’s degree are paid $2,100 to teach a three-credit course each semester. Each adjunct can teach up to three courses per semester, or six per year.

The part-timers want to improve their pay and working conditions.
