WAYNESBURG – A Waynesburg man allegedly stabbed two men outside Buddy’s Tavern in Franklin Township Friday evening.

State police arrested Joseph Bryan Adams, 49, of 115 Buchanan Ave., and accused him of attacking William Wise and Eric Miller. Police said Adams was asked to leave the tavern shortly after 10:30 p.m. Adams reportedly told police he was attacked by Wise and Miller outside the bar and was acting in self-defense when he stabbed them. Police did not say why Adams was asked to leave the bar or what sparked the incident outside.

According to the criminal complaint, Adams inflicted three large lacerations to Wise’s side and large cuts to his left arm and right stomach area. Miller received a large cut to his right arm and one to the right side of his chest. Both men were treated at Southwest Regional Medical Center.

A keychain containing a three-inch knife was found in Adams’ pocket, police said.

Adams is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. He was being held in Greene County jail on $25,000 cash bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. March 31 before District Judge Lee Watson.
