HILLSVILLE (AP) – A person killed in a fire that destroyed a rural Western Pennsylvania home may have called 911 from inside.

Officials say they received an emergency call around 12:30 a.m. Monday from a resident of the Mahoning Township home.

They say a second 911 call came from a passer-by reporting flames shooting from the roof.

A lack of hydrants forced firefighters to truck in water.

KDKA-TV reports a fire chief performed CPR in the front yard. The victim was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Officials did not release the person’s name. It’s unclear if anyone else lived in the home.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing.
