Police: Waynesburg man pointed gun at stepfather

WAYNESBURG – A Waynesburg man is charged with recklessly endangering his stepfather after he pointed a shotgun at him Saturday morning.

Police said Zachary Nicholas Halverson, 21, of 155 N. Maiden St., drove past the residence of his stepfather, Paul Romanakis, at 389 Locust Drive in Franklin Township, turned around, and stopped along the road in front of the house. Romanakis told police Halverson exited his vehicle and they began arguing. At some point during the argument, Halverson produced a shotgun and pointed it at Romanakis, according to the criminal complaint.

Romanakis said he approached Halverson who then returned to his vehicle and left.

Halverson is charged with simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Halverson is being held on $25,000 straight cash bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. March 31.
