GREENSBORO – A series of free art workshops for teens will be offered in Greensboro from April 11 through July 12. The program is designed for teens 14 to 17 to use art as a means of exploring various themes, including self-discovery, cultural perspectives, creative problem-solving and teamwork.

Teens interested in participating are encouraged to sign up for the program as soon as possible because space is limited. Artist Valerie Herrero of the Bridging Rural Arts Program, along with local artists, will cover such artistic mediums as watercolors, clay and silkscreen printing.

In June, students of the program will travel to Pittsburgh to work with peers at the nonprofit Assemble, a community program that teaches through a combination of art and technology. Students also will tour the Andy Warhol Museum.

The Bridging Rural Arts Program was created with a mission of bridging youth from different communities within Southwestern Pennsylvania and the Pittsburgh region through art and cultural exposure.

The program in Greensboro is sponsored by the Futures Fund, the 2013 Forever Greene Fund of the Community Foundation of Greene County, and the Nathanael Greene Development Corp.
