The Greene County Library System is calling for vendors and representatives to join it in an upcoming library system fundraiser, based on a “quarter auction.”

The fundraiser will be held at 6 p.m. April 25 in the 4-H Building at the Greene County Fairgrounds.

Vendors who plan to participate are asked to set up by 5:30 p.m.

Each vendor is asked to bring 10 items for auction and one to donate to the library system for auction. Vendors will display their 10 items for the auction.

The library system will have a table with a donated item from each vendor.

At the beginning of each round, the vendor will say the auction is worth so many quarters.

The vendor could say one, two, three or four quarters, but the most common amount is one or two quarters.

Players put quarters in plastic buckets for each of their numbers with which they want to play.

They then hold up the numbers for which they have paid in that round.

They can hold up only the number or numbers played that round.

The vendor then collects the buckets and gets to keep all the quarters from their auction. The system will get to keep the quarters paid for items on the donated table.

The system is asking for a $25 registration fee from each vendor. The system has a sign-up sheet to ensure it has no more than one representative from each company.

Representatives will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

The system already has Avon, Thirty One Bags and Paparazzi representatives signed up for the event.

Vendors need to confirm their registration and pay the registration fee by Saturday.

The event provides vendors with an opportunity to get their products out for the public to see and meet potential new clients.

The system hopes this fundraiser becomes an annual event.

Anyone interested in the event or who has questions can call Therese Barry at the Greene County Library System at 724-852-5396. The email address is gcls@windstream.net.
