MUNROE FALLS, Ohio (AP) — Court records say an Ohio policewoman and her former boyfriend were struggling over a gun before she shot and killed him after he broke into her suburban Akron home.

The court documents say the man attacked and threatened to kill the off-duty officer.

Thirty-year-old Kent Officer Sarah Berkey is on administrative leave while authorities investigate the shooting of 29-year-old Adam Jovicic of Munroe Falls.

Berkey could be heard on a 911 call screaming and crying last Thursday as she told a dispatcher that she shot her ex-boyfriend after he began beating her.

Court records say Berkey grabbed a gun from her bedroom after Jovicic attacked her and that they struggled over it before she shot him twice in the abdomen.
