Lions Club names students of month
WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg Central High School seniors Morgan Summersgill and John-Glen Davis were selected by the high school faculty as the Waynesburg Lions Club’s students of the month for March.
Summersgill, a daughter of Patrick and Jill Summersgill of Prosperity, has a 4.0 grade-point average.
She is secretary of the student council, treasurer of SADD, vice president of the senior class and president of the ski club. She is captain of the varsity cheerleaders and participates in track and field.
Summersgill is a member of the National Honor Society, art club, Spanish club, Leo Club, Relay for Life, yearbook staff, Alpha Club and prom committee.
She received academic excellence for the last three years and in ninth grade received awards in English and advanced biology and honors in integrated science and mathematics.
Summersgill is a volunteer at Golden Living Center and a day camp counselor. She plans to attend Robert Morris University and major in biology.
Davis, a son of Lori Paletta-Davis and Dan Davis of Waynesburg, has a 3.5 grade-point average.
Davis participated in varsity football for all four years and was co-captain of the team his senior year.
He was selected a member of the all-conference, all-star football teams in 2013 and 2014 and received the Bill George Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2012 and 2013, the Lee Baker Offensive Player of the Year Award in 2013 and the Mr. Hustle Award in 2014.
He also played varsity basketball, baseball and track and field.
Davis is a member of the varsity club, letterman’s club, Christian Athletes and the tech theater stage crew and is a candidate for the National Honor Society.
He has served as a powder puff football coach, worked with the Little Dribblers youth basketball team and participated in Relay for Life, Salvation Army Christmas activities and a Crossroads service project. He is training to be a firefighter with the local volunteer fire department.
Davis plans to attend Waynesburg University in the fall, though he has not yet decided on a major.
