One injured in I-79 crash

A two-vehicle accident at 3:40 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 79 south in North Strabane Township resulted in one motorist being taken by helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital.

According to state police, an SUV and a box truck were involved in the accident near Exit 45, which led to the SUV flipping onto its roof, where it came to rest.

The severity of the injury was not known.

Southbound traffic was backed up after the accident. Police and fire departments were still clearing the scene at 5 p.m.
