Somerset woman faces drug charges
A Somerset Township woman was arrested Wednesday by state police after troopers said they found a large quantity of suspected marijuana seeds while responding to a reported burglary in progress at her home.
Mary Katherine Boyle, 42, of 76 Rainey Road, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.
When police arrived at Boyle’s home, they found three people in the front yard. Boyle told police the two men and one woman were drug dealers who were cooking crack in her home. She allegedly told police the two men allowed her to smoke the crack they were making in exchange for her allowing them to use the home, and she flushed a large amount of their crack down her toilet.
Police found no sign of forced entry and determined there was no burglary because Boyle gave one of the men a key to her home and reportedly allowed all three to stay there.
Boyle reportedly told troopers there was a large amount of marijuana seeds in the home, along with crack and paraphernalia. Police said she went up to her bedroom, got the marijuana seeds and gave them to the troopers. Police said they also found needles and burnt pieces of a copper scrubbing pad.
Boyle allegedly claimed ownership of the paraphernalia and crack, but denied the marijuana seeds belonged to her. Police seized two large freezer bags and two smaller plastic bags of seeds. She also allegedly told troopers she was addicted to crack.
State police did not indicate if the other three people at the house face charges.
Boyle was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for May 20 before District Judge Curtis Thompson.
