HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania State Police say a high-ranking state senator from Allentown is being charged with drunken driving for a motorcycle accident last weekend that left him injured.

State police said Friday they filed charges against Republican Sen. Pat Browne for the crash on an Interstate 78 off-ramp.

Authorities say his blood alcohol content was above the state’s legal limit for driving of .08 percent.

Browne, the Appropriations Committee chairman, hasn’t spoken publicly about the accident in which he suffered a punctured lung, cracked ribs and a broken foot. He didn’t return phone and email messages Friday.

A Senate Republican caucus spokeswoman says the 51-year-old Browne left the hospital for a physical therapy facility on Wednesday, and has been getting updates on legislation and state issues.
