ALLENTOWN – An autopsy is scheduled Monday on the body of a 1-year-old boy who died six days after authorities allege he was thrown into an eastern Pennsylvania river by his mother.
The Lehigh County coroner’s office says Zymeir Perry of Allentown died Saturday. Authorities allege that 19-year-old Johnesha Monae Perry pushed the child over the rail of an Allentown bridge into the Lehigh River May 3 before jumping in herself. Rescuers found the boy about 700 yards downstream.
Perry was charged earlier with attempted homicide, child endangerment and aggravated assault.
District Attorney Jim Martin told The (Allentown) Morning Call he would hold a news conference Monday to update the case. He declined comment on whether Perry has spoken about what led to the events on the bridge.
