Domestic dispute: A Bentleyville couple were arrested Thursday by state police after a domestic dispute and charged with simple assault and harassment. Timothy Francis Norquist, 39, and Elizabeth Marie Norquist, 39, both of 284 Johnston Road, were arraigned Thursday before District Judge James Ellis. Timothy Norquist was released on his own recognizance. Ellis set bail for Elizabeth Norquist at $2,500 cash. She remains in Washington County jail.
Home improvement scam: A Washington man is in the Washington County jail after allegedly taking six personal checks totaling $1,650 in June and July 2014 for repair work never done on the bathroom of a Bentleyville woman. Sean Patrick Yee, 54, of 449 Ewing St., was charged by Bentleyville police with theft by deception. He was arraigned Wednesday by District Judge James Ellis, who set bail at $10,000. Anyone who knows of similar incidents in the Bentleyville area is asked to call borough police at 724-239-2701.
Retail theft: Theresa Lee Buck, 30, of Brownsville, was charged by California police with retail theft for allegedly stealing makeup and other items from the Dollar General on Wood Street Tuesday.
Possession charge: California police charged Terri Lynn Black, 49, of Carmichaels, with possession of drug paraphernalia, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and traffic violations after she was pulled over May 8 for an expired inspection. Police allegedly found drug paraphernalia indicative to cocaine use inside the vehicle.
Warrant arrest: Canonsburg police responded to a call at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday of an intoxicated man stumbling into traffic along West Pike Street. Ralph McLaughlin, of Muse, was offered a ride home, but he was ultimately arrested and jailed on an adult probation warrant. Police said he became agitated and repeatedly kicked the holding cell door, damaging it.
Criminal mischief: Elizabeth Mae Metz reported to Canonsburg police that cereal was thrown all over her front porch and outdoor furniture overnight Wednesday.
Stolen property: Ryan William Fluharty, 18, of 535 Chartiers Ave., was charged by Canonsburg police with three counts of receiving stolen property in connection with a string of vehicle break-ins. Police said they served a search warrant at Fluharty’s residence and discovered several items that had been reported stolen Saturday and Sunday, including handbags and wallets with identification. He was arraigned by District Judge James Ellis and taken to Washington County jail on a $5,000 bond. Police said they expect to make more arrests related to recent thefts.
Assault: Gregory Ivory, 22, of 426 Parkinson St., was jailed for allegedly damaging the residence he shares with his grandparents, as well as slapping and head-butting his grandmother in the face at about 10 a.m. Wednesday. Ivory was charged by Monongahela police with aggravated assault, simple assault, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and harassment. He was arraigned by District Judge Mark Wilson and placed in Washington County jail on a $100,000 bond.
DUI and fleeing: An Eighty Four man was arrested 3 a.m. Thursday by North Strabane police on Green Valley Road. John Yuvan, 44, of 257 Green Valley Road is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving under the influence, restrictions on alcoholic beverages, and traffic violations. He was arraigned Thursday before District Judge James Ellis, who set bail at $5,000 cash. Yuvan is in Washington County jail.
Driver charged: A Washington woman is charged by city police with accident involving damage and duty to give information following a hit-and-run accident in Family Dollar parking lot, 101 E. Wylie Ave., May 14. Janice R. Lovat, 48, of 985 Sycamore St., allegedly left the scene after striking Amanda Terry’s vehicle. Charges will be sent by summons.
