PITTSBURGH – Authorities are investigating the death of a construction worker killed while working on repairs to a Western Pennsylvania overpass over the weekend.

Officials in Allegheny County said the man was apparently pinned by a hydraulic lift against the roof of the East Busway bridge overpass in Wilkinsburg at about 8:20 a.m. Saturday.

The county medical examiner’s office says 35-year-old Sean Kelly of Monroeville was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lt. Andrew Schurman of the Allegheny County police department said the death appears to have been an accident.

Kelly was working for Guliisek Construction, which was hired by The Port Authority of Allegheny County to make repairs to 22 bridges in the system.

Company spokesman Jake Ploeger said officials are doing everything they can to help determine how the accident happened.
