Charleroi man faces more drug charges
A Charleroi man wanted on drug charges for allegedly selling heroin to a confidential informant for the Washington County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force now faces more charges after police said he was found with more of the suspected drug when taken into custody Monday afternoon.
Nicholas J. Fincik, 33, of 714 Seventh St., was arrested by Charleroi Regional police after he was spotted in the 400 block of Locust Lane in North Charleroi.
When police got out of their cruiser, an officer said he saw Fincik hand what looked to be a bundle of heroin to Thomas W. Jensen. When the officer told Fincik he was wanted on a warrant, Jensen allegedly ran into his home, ignoring police orders to stop.
Police ordered Fincik to get on the ground, but he started walking backward, telling the officer that he was not wanted on a warrant. Police said he kept his hand in his pocket as he walked, and officers told him to get his hand out of his pocket or they would use a Taser. Fincik continued to walk backward and refused to take his hand out, so the Taser was used and he fell to the ground.
Police said they found a large amount of money, a bundle of heroin and a cellphone in his pants pockets. Inside a car parked nearby was a plastic bag containing three bricks of suspected heroin, police said. The officer also spotted what appeared to be a record book containing names and amounts owed or purchased.
Jensen came back outside and allegedly admitted to police he purchased two bundles of heroin from Fincik.
Police determined Fincik had $1,723 and 160 stamp bags of the suspected drug.
Charges of possession of heroin and paraphernalia were filed Tuesday against Jensen, 40, of North Charleroi, at the office of District Judge Larry Hopkins.
Fincik was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges filed by Charleroi police including criminal use of a communications facility, possession and possession with intent to deliver heroin and possession of heroin.
Havelka set bond on those charges at $100,000. He also was arraigned on charges filed by the task force including possession and possession with intent to deliver heroin. Bond on those charges was set at $50,000 by Havelka. Fincik was placed in Washington County jail. He will have a preliminary hearing Nov. 12 before Hopkins.
