Driver charged: Wallace Dale Pieper, 66, of 890 Ten Mile Road, Marianna, was charged Thursday by state police in connection with a Nov. 2, 2013, crash on Interstate 79 southbound in Amwell. Police said his blood-alcohol content was more than 3 ½ times the 0.08 percent limit at which intoxication is presumed when his vehicle hit a guardrail near the Marianna/Prosperity exit. Police said he also had an open container of alcohol. Charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to stay in the correct lane, careless driving and having an open container of alcohol were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Ethan Ward.
Tavern cited: The operators of New Bentleyville Tavern, 843 Main St., Bentleyville, were cited Monday by the state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for allegedly allowing smoking, failing to clean the beer-dispensing system every seven days, failing to notify the bureau of a change in manager and failing to post signs as required by the Clean Indoor Air Act.
Warrant issued: State police have obtained an arrest warrant for Bradley Stephen Suba, 30, of Richeyville, on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, identity theft, access device fraud, receiving stolen property, theft from a vehicle and traffic violations. He is accused of stealing a debit card and driver’s license and trying to use those to obtain money at several locations last month. The items were stolen from a vehicle at 1041 Old National Pike, Centerville.
Man struck: Thomas Steptoe, 44, of 108 Pennsylvania Ave., Charleroi, was charged by Charleroi Regional police with harassment after he allegedly hit Travis Bartimus in the face outside 108 Pennsylvania Ave. on Thursday.
Harassment charge: Bobby Franklin, 28, of 13 Reed Ave., Monessen, was charged by Charleroi Regional police with harassment after he allegedly grabbed eyeglasses off Billie Jo Lenhart on Friday, scratching her face. The incident allegedly occurred while he was working at Fourth Street Barbecue.
Theft arrest: Kristin Noelle Snyder, 35, of 2900 Taft St., North Franklin Township, was arraigned Monday before District Judge David Mark on 10 counts each of theft, access device fraud, identity theft and receiving stolen property filed by Chartiers police. She is accused of stealing a debit card and credit card from Jayme Marshall, 127 Pine Ave., and using it to withdraw more than $3,000 at different automated teller machines. She was released on $10,000 unsecured bond.
Woman charged: Terri Lynn Walker, 48, of 1920 Park Ave., Washington, was charged by Donegal police with illegal sale or transfer of firearms and unsworn falsification for allegedly providing false information on an application to purchase a firearm April 25 at a gun show at Meadowlands Sportsman’s Club, 444 Lake Road. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Ethan Ward.
Scam reported: Ann Marie Vickers of Walnut Ridge Road, Fallowfield, told state police Friday that she was scammed out of $1,600 in an email con. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 724-929-6262.
Jailed on assault charge: Brandon Alan Hickman, 28, of Canonsburg, was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond after he was ordered held for court Tuesday by District Judge Jay Weller on charges of simple assault and harassment. He is accused of punching Haley Champagne during a June 24 incident at her home on Bayberry Drive, township police said.
Mailboxes damaged: Nine mailboxes in the 100, 300 and 500 blocks of Justabout Road in Venetia were damaged Saturday by thrown pumpkins.
Decorations damaged: A styrofoam tombstone and inflatable pumpkin in the yard of home in the 100 block of Kimber Drive were vandalized Saturday.
Squirrel thrown: A dead squirrel reportedly was thrown by a passing motorist Monday at teachers picketing in front of Peters Township High School, police said.
Window broken: Juveniles throwing rocks broke a window of a business in the 100 block of Waterdam Road. The juveniles were caught, but the business owner declined to press charges and asked that they pay for his window to be repaired, police said.
Fugitive arrested: Nicholas Barnes, 35, of McKees Rocks, was arrested Monday morning as a fugitive from justice by South Strabane police. Police were called to Walmart, Trinity Point, for a report of retail theft. During the investigation, police learned Barnes was wanted as a fugitive from justice in Queen Anne’s County, Md., for failing to follow through on terms of his probation stemming from a burglary charge filed by state police in that state. He was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward and placed in Washington County jail for 30 days, pending extradition to Maryland.
Woman charged: Katelyn Scherer, 27, of 153 Elm St., Washington, was arrested Monday night by Washington police after she allegedly hit Shawn Beyerl in the head with a vase and punched him during a dispute at their home. She was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka on a charge of simple assault and placed in Washington County jail on $3,000 bond.
Fireworks charge: James Kosek, 42, of 916 1/2 Addison St., was charged by Washington police with setting off fireworks after police said they spotted the fireworks going off at his home. Police confiscated the remaining fireworks.
