Police beat Nov. 7
Motorcycle accident: Chad Costa, 32, of Weirton, W.Va., was traveling north on Interstate 79 near Barrett Hill Road when the motorcycle he was driving struck a deer at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. He was flown by medical helicopter to UMPC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh, where he was treated for minor injuries. Costa will be charged by state police with driving too fast for conditions.
Suspicious man: The operator of a Burgettstown dance studio told McDonald police that an older man came into her studio about 5:30 p.m. Oct. 30 and wanted to sit in on classes and watch the children. He also asked how many children were in the studio. She told police she asked the man to leave.
Woman charged: Brionne Ashley Thomas, 20, of North Huntington, was charged Friday by California police with theft, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy after she allegedly removed an officially installed parking boot from her vehicle while it was parked Oct. 30 in the 200 block of Third Street. Her vehicle was found several days later and impounded. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
Houses burglarized: Residents of two homes on Murdock Street reported burglaries Thursday to Canonsburg police. Christopher Confor of 205 Murdock said his door was forced open and a remote control car was stolen. Gavin SanPietro of 107 Murdock also reported his door was kicked in and a safe containing a .45-caliber handgun and four to five magazines for the weapon was stolen.
Ticket con: Courtney Cavanaugh of 211 Hallam Ave., Meadow Lands, told Chartiers police Wednesday she was bilked out of $500 for four Pittsburgh Steelers tickets she purchased online. The money for the tickets was sent to an online account that was bogus, police said.
Wristlet stolen: Paige Davis of Westland told Chartiers police Tuesday her Coach wristlet was stolen from her vehicle while it was parked at Black and Gold Lounge on Pike Street.
Item stolen: State police are investigating the theft of a fuel pump from a diesel fuel tank owned by Alex Paris Construction of Atlasburg at a gas well site at 54 McClelland Road that occurred between 4 p.m. Tuesday and 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Teens charged: Matthew Klen, 18, of Heidelberg; Cody Rees, 18, and Kyle Gould, 19, both of Carnegie; and a 17-year-old Pittsburgh boy will be charged by McDonald police with disorderly conduct after they allegedly were found with suspected marijuana during a traffic stop early Sunday on Barr Street.
Vehicle damaged: Cheyenne Crisman of Oakdale told McDonald police her vehicle was damaged while on Dickson Street, Midway, early Sunday. She told police a man, whom she identified, threw a ceramic object at the vehicle, damaging it.
One injured: Ashley Marie Schaffer, 30, of Crafton, was slightly injured Thursday afternoon when her vehicle was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by Matthew M. Burger, 32, of Fredericksburg, Va., on Southpointe Boulevard at Morganza Road, North Strabane police said. She was treated at the scene.
Crashes while texting: Ashley Coulson, 25, of 185 Arlington Ave., Charleroi, reportedly told North Strabane police she was sending a text message Thursday morning when she crashed into a guardrail in the 900 block of South Central Avenue. She refused treatment at the scene. Coulson was cited for texting while driving.
Package stolen: Sue C. Hamilton of Thomas Campbell Apartments, 850 Beech St., told South Strabane police Thursday a package containing an air mattress delivered by United Parcel Service was stolen from outside the door to her apartment.
Deposits stolen: A manager at Claire’s, Tanger Outlets, told South Strabane police Thursday two night deposits totaling $345.25 were not made to the store’s bank account. Police are investigating.
iPhone stolen: Susan Blue of South Strabane told township police Wednesday her iPhone was stolen while she was at Michael’s, Strabane Square. She told police she got a call from the alleged thief offering to return it in exchange for money.
Window broken: Tracey Kreider of 49 Seminole Ave. told Washington police vandals broke a front window at her home Thursday.
RV damaged: Joe Koval told Washington police Thursday a window was broken on his recreational vehicle while it was parked in the 600 block of West Chestnut Street.
Possession charges: John Swierczek of 279 N. Franklin St. will be charged by Washington police with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia after police said they found the suspected drug Thursday when officers went to his home for a medical call.
Resisting charge: Joseph Victorelli, 32, of 50 S. Lincoln St., Washington, will be charged by Washington police with resisting arrest and public drunkenness after allegedly struggling with officers trying to take him into custody about 1:20 a.m. Friday. Police said they saw him staggering near East Maiden and South Main streets.
