Editors note: This story has been modified from the print version to correctly state this is the second time the event was held. A previous version stated it was the first event.

All five of Greene County’s school districts are collaborating for the second time on the College, Career and Scholarship Fair that will be held Nov. 19 at Cumberland Township Volunteer Fire Department in Carmichaels.

More than 70 different colleges, organizations and businesses will be in attendance to show students what their facilities offer.

More than 1,000 students signed up to attend the fair, which runs from 8 to 11:45 a.m.

“I honestly believe it gives our kids the opportunity to see what’s out there,” Carmichaels Superintendent John Menhart said.

The fair is sponsored by Penn State Fayette’s Eberly Campus and the Greene County Consortium of school districts.

Rachel Angry, Penn State Fayette’s admissions counselor and a member of the fair administration, said this will be the second year for the event. She said the collaboration between the five school districts this year will make it an even bigger success.

“I hope students go in with some expectation and then have something surprise them or be different than what they initially thought,” Angry said. “Something they didn’t realize they would get out of it.”

The fair will offer many different subjects and opportunities with representatives from local and out-of-state colleges, the Pennsylvania State Police, the National Conservation Organization and various local businesses.

“This is the second time all of the school districts have come together to do something like this for their students,” Angry said of the collaboration. “They are working very hard together to give their students a great opportunity to find out about options after graduation.”
