Senate panel weighing possible removal of AG Kane to meet
HARRISBURG (AP) – A Pennsylvania Senate committee set up to consider whether to take action against Attorney General Kathleen Kane is preparing to hold its first meeting, but she won’t be there.
The Special Committee on Senate Address will meet Monday afternoon in the Capitol to hear from county prosecutors about issues that involve referrals to Kane’s office and other matters.
The Senate unanimously established the panel late last month, giving it a month to produce a report.
It’s charged with considering whether to recommend Kane’s removal under the state constitution.
Kane’s law license is under temporary, indefinite suspension as she fights perjury and other charges for allegedly leaking secret grand jury material.
She argues she can only be removed through an impeachment process that would have to start in the House.
