Action: At the request of the public safety department, the commissioners approved the $10,329 Radiation Emergency Response Fund grant application from money collected by nuclear power facilities in Pennsylvania to improve emergency preparedness in case of a nuclear accident at the Beaver Valley Power Plant, Shippingport.
At the request of the planning department, the board approved an agreement with Canon-McMillan School District for .026 acres of permanent easement and .15 acres of temporary easement related to the replacement of the Mawhinney Road bridge over Millers Run in Cecil Township. The state will pay 80 percent of the $800 cost while county liquid fuels funds will cover the remainder.
At the request of the finance department, the commissioners approved a three-year extension with the accounting firm Maher Duessel to audit the county’s finances at a cost of $118,000 for 2016, $120,500 for 2017 and $123,000 for 2018.
At the request of the court administrator’s office, the commissioners approved a addendum to the contract with Blue Devil Cable for District Judge Gary Havelka to increase the download speed of the magistrate’s office at a cost of $108 per month on a month-to-month basis.
Contracts: At the request of the district attorney’s office, the board approved and ratified a professional services contract with Aequitas for a speaker to travel to a Nov. 9 training session on alcohol-related sexual assaults and expert testimony in court cases. There is no fee for the training itself.
At the request of the domestic relations office, the commissioners approved a $25,000 contract with attorney Frank D. Magone to provide legal services under Federal Title IV-D to assist in the establishment and enforcement of child-support orders through Sept. 30, 2016, subject to the availability of federal funds. Also related to the domestic relations office, two sheriff’s deputies will serve bench warrants, provide security and perform other duties; the domestic relations office will provide a vehicle and pay the deputies’ salaries.
