Woman shot in face; two men in custody
Two men were in police custody Tuesday night after a woman was shot in California Borough.
California Borough Police Chief Rick Encapera said a woman was shot in the face outside of a home on Highland Avenue behind California University of Pennsylvania’s Vulcan Village Apartments about 6:15 p.m.
Following the shooting, California police and K-9 units conducted a nearly three-hour manhunt before they found the men suspected in the shooting.
The woman, who was not identified, was flown by emergency helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Encapera said she was expected to survive.
Police did not immediately release the names of the men who were being held in connection with the shooting.
Police issued an alert to California University students notifying them the shots had been fired near the apartments.
The men were expected to be arraigned Tuesday night.
