Burger joint damaged by stolen school bus to donate food
MONROEVILLE (AP) – A burger joint damaged when someone smashed a stolen school bus into a Pennsylvania strip mall plans to donate its now-useless inventory to a local food bank.
Officials at Smashburger, in Monroeville, say the location will likely be closed for about a week.
Police say someone stole a bus from First Student, a school bus contractor in neighboring Plum, then crashed the vehicle into Penn Plaza about 3 a.m. Thursday.
The Vitamin Shoppe took the brunt of the crash, but neighboring Smashburger was also damaged by the impact.
Police have yet to identify a suspect in the crash and theft of the bus.
