Police beat Nov. 24

Man charged: Marquis Honay McWhorter, 20, of Collingdale, was charged with underage drinking, possession of a small amount of marijuana and false identification after he allegedly ran from California police after they encountered him at about 11:40 p.m. Oct. 24 at Second and Wood streets, police said.

Package stolen: Tara L. Smith, 539 Blaine Ave., told Canonsburg police Saturday a Victoria’s Secret package delivered to her home Thursday by a postal carrier was stolen from outside her home.

Drug charges: Robert Leach, 43, of 931 Crest Ave., Charleroi, was charged last week by Charleroi Regional police with possession of heroin and paraphernalia after officers were called Nov. 13 to a convenience store parking lot at 750 Lincoln Ave. for a report of a man passed out in his pickup truck. Leach was awake when police arrived but appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. Police found him with five stamp bags of suspected heroin. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Larry Hopkins.

Theft arrest: Rogelio Carrillo, 26, of 434 Oakland Ave., Charleroi, is charged by Charleroi Regional police with theft from a motor vehicle, accused of stealing a smartphone and GPS device from a relative’s vehicle parked outside his residence about 7:25 p.m. Nov. 1, court records show. He is in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond set Friday by District Judge Larry Hopkins.

Assault charge: Kenneth Hayman, 35, of 1029 Locust Ave., Washington, was charged Tuesday by Chartiers police with simple assault and harassment after he allegedly threw his estranged wife, Renata Hayman, to the floor and kicked her during a Nov. 5 confrontation at her home. He also allegedly broke items as he left the house. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.

False reports charge: Michele Lyn Davis, 49, of 361 N. Jefferson Ave., Canonsburg, was charged Tuesday by state police with false identification to police, driving under suspension, driving without a license and an equipment violation after she reportedly gave her mother’s name to a trooper when she was stopped Nov. 5 for an equipment violation on North Main Street, Chartiers. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.

Drug case: Lance Chacko, 32, of 904 Marne Ave., Monongahela, was charged by city police with possessing 50 heroin stamp bags with intent to deliver, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, court records show. Police also seized $594 from Chacko after an officer alleged to have found the drugs during a traffic stop about 11:40 a.m. Sunday. He is in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond set by District Judge Larry Hopkins.

Drug charges: Brenan C. Greer, 28, of 122 Maple St., Canonsburg, will be charged by North Franklin police with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia after he was found Wednesday passed out in his running vehicle in the drive-through of McDonald’s, West Chestnut Street, after an apparent overdose. Police found a needle and three empty stamp bags in his vehicle. He was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment and blood also was drawn, police said.

PFA violation: Jason Stevens, 42, of 340 Madison Ave., New Eagle, was charged Monday by North Franklin police for reportedly violating a protection-from-abuse order obtained by his estranged girlfriend, Theresa Rowley, for the second time in the last month. He is accused of sending the North Franklin woman messages on Facebook.

One injured: Charles M. Wise, 50, of 136 Elm St., Claysville, was injured when the vehicle in which he was a passenger and another vehicle collided on Weavertown Road at the on-ramp to Interstate 79, North Strabane police said. Clarissa J. Hatfield, 35, also of 136 Elm, was driving west on Weavertown and stopped to turn left onto the highway when she was hit from behind by Clayton’s vehicle. Wise, who was a passenger in Hatfield’s vehicle, was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment.

Burglary alleged: Marlo A. Price, 42, of 130 May Ave., Washington, was charged last week by South Strabane police with burglary, criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property. Police were called Oct. 15 to Penn Station Subs, 32 Old Mill Boulevard, for a report of a missing cash drawer and money deposit envelope. A store employee reported $971 was stolen. Price was a manager at the restaurant, police said. Charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.

Equipment stolen: An employee of Alex Paris Construction of Atlasburg told South Strabane police Friday a trailer was broken into at a construction site on Manifold Road. Stolen from the trailer were 150 feet of copper tubing valued at $600, and various power tools. The employee said another roll of copper tubing was found over a hillside in a wooded area.

Hit-and-run accident: State police were called to the scene of a hit-and-run accident Monday on Interstate 70. Marvin L. Hill, 46, of Alcolu, S.C., was traveling west when his vehicle was struck by another vehicle near the Interstate 79 junction. The second driver fled the scene. Hill was not injured and his vehicle sustained minor damage.

Assault reported: Maurice Scott, 36, of Maple Ave., Homestead, will have aggravated assault charges filed against him, Washington police said, after he punched and choked a woman. The incident happened on Sunday at a residence on May Avenue, but Scott allegedly took the woman’s cellphone after she tried to flee, eventually leading police to respond to 224 Linn Ave. where she fled.

Prostitution arrested: Kathleen Renee Conn, 28, of 83 Sammy Angott Way, was arrested Saturday for prostitution and drug possession, police said. Conn allegedly posted a listing to a website soliciting “everything for $120,” to which officers arranged a meeting. Upon Conn allegedly asking for money and beginning to undress, police arrested her and found 25 bags of heroin and a crack pipe in her possession.

Charges withdrawn: Charges were withdrawn against a man who was reported to police Friday for allegedly stealing money. Mark Ealy, 44, of McKee Road, Canton Township, had a theft charge dropped after Ken Miller, of Buy & Sell Outlet, 172 S. Main St., called Washington police hours after the initial report was filed and asked for the charges to be dropped. City police said there was a misunderstanding about money given to Ealy for roofing work and materials.

Couple jailed: Nicole D. Lowther, 35, and Gary D. Decker, 31, both of 42 Main St., Daisytown, were each charged by state police with simple assault and harassment, accused of striking each other about 12:15 a.m. Thursday at their residence, court records show. They are in Washington County jail on $25,000 bonds set by District Judge Larry Hopkins.
