CHAMPION (AP) – A judge has denied a Western Pennsylvania couple’s effort to have a road remain open near a ski resort, enabling the resort to start making snow ahead of ski season.

The Pittsburgh Tribune reports Gabriel and Gloria Hudock, of Canonsburg, filed a lawsuit earlier this month seeking to stop the closure of a road leading to their home.

The road is closed from Nov. 15 to April 1 to accommodate Seven Springs Mountain Resort. In exchange, the resort pays fees to the township.

The resort contended leaving the road would cause them to lose over 70 percent of its skiable terrain.

The couple argued the alternate route to their home is unreliable and wanted the other road open.

Fayette County Judge Nancy Vernon denied the request.
