Police beat Dec. 1
Driver charged in high-speed chase: A Greensboro man was arrested last week following a high-speed chase in Dunkard Township. A Greene County sheriff’s deputy was monitoring traffic shortly after noon Wednesday on Route 88 at Holbert Stretch Road when a car driven by Tyler S. Holbert, 22, of 103 First St., was speeding and ran a stop sign at the intersection, court records indicate. Deputy James Zimmerman followed the vehicle, which reached 80 miles per hour, for two miles before the deputy lost sight of the car. The deputy later found the car parked at 642 Bobtown Road. Holbert eventually returned to the car and was arrested. He faces charges of fleeing, reckless driving, careless driving and multiple traffic citations.
Two-car crash: State police said no one was injured in a two-car crash Sunday morning on Route 21 in Franklin Township. Police said Joshua Gifford, 52, of Holbrook, was parked on the road’s shoulder in West Waynesburg about 9:45 a.m. when he pulled back onto the highway and struck an eastbound pickup truck driven by Michael J. Smith, 58, of Waynesburg. Both men were wearing their seat belt, police said, and Gifford will be cited.
Crash injures drive: John J. Gresh, 56, of Greensboro, suffered a minor injury when he crashed on Route 88 in Monongahela Township early Thursday morning and his car went airborne into trees and traffic signs. Police said Gresh was speeding when he lost control north of Greensboro Road and his car drove over an embankment into the woods. Police said Gresh left the scene and a passerby reported the crash later that morning.
