Update planned on Charleroi historic preservation efforts
A meeting will be held today in Charleroi to update residents on the borough’s historic preservation plan.
The meeting has been called by Monongahela architect Terry Necciai, who was hired to create a team for the study of the borough, most of which is on the National Register of Historic Districts.
The meeting will include a discussion on the role of borough government planning, tax credits, land banking and state and federal funding for preservation.
The initiative on getting Charleroi Area School District students involved in preserving local resources also will be presented at the meeting.
It will begin at 7 p.m. in the borough building at Fourth Street and Fallowfield Avenue.
